The core idea of this workshop is: Nothing Bad Will Happen if you try to make a painting, the truth of which I often need reminders of. Even a bad painting is worth creating and we often surprise ourselves with something beautiful, interesting or even funny.

I didn’t pay attention at art school and I don’t love youtube tutorials so I have made up my method for making oil paintings and if you come along I will tell you about it. The workshop will be suitable for all skill levels - a total step by step, let’s make it easy on ourselves experience. You’ll come out with questionable ideas about technique and a small oil painting on board - hooray!

It’s 3 hours for $40 because it’s been generously supported by Creative NZ. All materials supplied.

Saturday 25th February 11am - 2pm West Taratahi Community Hall 713 Chester Rd Clareville.

This daytime workshop is now FULL. I am running an early evening session on the same day 5 - 8pm. Extremely simple kai & cups of tea provided.

Very limited places, the hall is not huge and it’s more fun for me if I get plenty of time with everyone.

If you think you may want to come along send me an email here and I’ll send you all the details. Invite anyone you think will be fun to paint alongside.
